Emotive mapping is a project that aims to regenerate the suburbs of depopulating or alienating cities. We’re developing the project as a model feasible in every city. We interview people who live in the localities where we will perform the show, we record our feelings aroused by the place itself and then we create a performative itinerary. We invite the audience to pay attention not to the historical landmarks of the place but to the stories of the present and to the people that live there today. In exchange we give them our feelings.Through the performances during the itinerary, we provoke a debate between us (the strangers) and the inhabitants and they between themselves. We try to awake a new way of looking at things, removing the coat created by routine. We have found that participants are very sensitive to this “new” kind of sharing. We want to give back the word “share” its original meaning because we believe that only in this way we could become citizens that are aware, and create (or re-create) a new social fabric.
